atphy hardware: ABSENT. The guest NIC is virtio; no age(4)/ale(4) controller
and no Attansic/Atheros F1 PHY exists on QEMU, and PHY register behavior
(BMSR/EXTSR reporting zero media bits while ID registers still match
ATHEROS F1) cannot be emulated. The kernel-side sink of the chain
(miibus_mediainit -> ifmedia_set on an empty list -> panic("ifmedia_set"))
was therefore executed directly via the uafsink KLD using the real kernel
functions; see panic.txt. The fix mechanism (IFM_NONE fallback entry ->
ifmedia_set matches, ifm_cur non-NULL) was validated the same way
(hw.uafsink_fixcheck=1 survives).
