  - `-device help` lists only: AC97 (Intel 82801AA), ES1370, intel-hda/ich9-intel-hda + hda codecs.
  - The VIA AC97 emulation (hw/audio/via-ac97.c, PCI 1106:3059 rev 0x50 -> "VIA VT8235" probe match,
    config 0x40=1 codec-ready) was added in QEMU 8.2 and is NOT present in 7.2.22; the audit guest
    therefore can never attach snd_via8233.
Guest audio state: no /dev/mixer*, no /dev/dsp*, no snd_via8233 module in image, no 1106:3059 PCI function.
Compiler: guest cc (DragonFly base clang) via vm.sh run_root.
