========== LIVE FIREWIRE REACHABILITY CHECK ========== Guest: DragonFly 6.5-DEVELOPMENT #0 (with-src, INVARIANTS ON) Evidence: - firewire compiled INTO kernel (4 entries in GENERIC: firewire, sbp, fwe, fwip) - fw_bus_explore_callback, fw_write, fw_read: ALL in kernel symbols - BUT: 0 FireWire controllers detected (pciconf -lv shows none) - BUT: 0 OHCI controllers (PCI class 0x0c0010 = none found) - BUT: /dev/fw* DOES NOT EXIST (no device nodes) - BUT: QEMU does NOT emulate FireWire/OHCI hardware fw_bus_explore_callback: only called during FireWire bus enumeration, which requires an attached fwohci OHCI controller. No controller = no bus exploration = function never called. fw_write/fw_read: require open /dev/fw* device node. Device nodes are created by firewire_attach when a controller is probed. No controller = no device nodes = open() fails = functions unreachable. Conclusion: FireWire code IS compiled into the kernel but is UNREACHABLE without FireWire hardware. QEMU does not emulate FireWire.
